OKWA SAREFOTrainer and Accessor for LEvel2 walking & RifleTrainer and Assessor for BQA and Nature Guide Level 2, Lead Walking and Rifle Use
Born and grew up on the North Western part of Botswana being the Okavango Delta, absolutely remote area. This explains that my guiding experience was absorbed from childhood. During that time fishing and hunting was my daily sport with my father. Our method of transport here was dugout canoes (mokoro),so I had to learn how to pole while at the age of 8 years old. I was employed by safari company called O.W.S. in 1993 as a poler and became a full professional guide in 1996, where I met Clinton Phillips. |
I produced very good results in my profession which led me to get a position in Mombo which is their top market lodge. In 2000 I was selected as one of the top best guide within the company in Botswana, by Clinton. We were offered an exposure course to South Africa, during this time we covered Kruger National Park and Sabi Sand Game reserve and ended up at Eco training guides training School where we were given some refreshment courses . I did several courses which included Weapon handling and Nature Walks training’s then decided to join CC Africa expeditions in 1994. Again continued producing excellent results and another growth from being a guide to an Assistant Operations Manager for Expeditions and Botswana under Canvas. In 2008 I left &Beyond and did freelance guiding for Lewis Safaris at the same time training guides at Career Dreams. I later joined African Bush Camps as a guide and relief manager for Linyanti Bush Camp and Khwai tented Camp from 2010 until June 2012. During my time with African Bush Camp we employed staff from the community and I was evolved for their in-house training.
In 2012, Clinton convinced me to Join EcoTraining Botswana Mashatu camp as an Assistant trainer and camp manager. Within a year Okwa had excelled and gained Trainer and Assessor status with BQA.
Okwa currently works as a freelance guide trainer for EcoTraining as well as NGTB, a private guide, as well as has started his own Walking and Mekoro Safari Company in the Okavango.
Okwa has an extremely down to earth character, is very respectful as well as passionate about Botswana its natural heritage. His passions lye in leading guests and training guides as walking guides.
